A coalition of Roseland-area residents and community stakeholders will unveil their collaboratively developed Safety Action Plan for the Greater Roseland Community on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at Metropolitan Family Services Calumet Center, 235 E. 103rd Street, Chicago. A reception will be held at 5:30 p.m.; the presentation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
“This sustainable, community-driven plan to address the violence crisis impacting our city and community was developed by people who live, work, learn and play here in Roseland, and who are invested in creating a safer, more vibrant Greater Roseland,” said Quincy Roseborough, Community Development Coordinator for Metropolitan Family Services.
The violence prevention plan is a product of Get IN Chicago’s Community Collaboration and Resident Engagement (CCRE) initiative, implemented on the South Side by Metropolitan Family Services. CCRE addresses community violence by empowering residents and organizations to create cohesive and supportive neighborhoods, improve community safety, and bring human, intellectual, and other resources into Roseland. CCRE solicited community input for the plan through focus groups, advisory council meetings, and idea rating sessions.
The plan was submitted to Get IN Chicago on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016. If approved, Get IN Chicago would provide funding to implement the violence prevention solutions identified in the plan.
