There’s much to love about the Chicago Park District’s Movies in the Park program: They’re (mostly) kid friendly, free for your viewing pleasure, and spread throughout the city all summer. If you don’t mind coating yourself in bug spray or sitting blanket-to-blanket with your fellow Chicagoans this summer, you can choose from more that 250 outdoor screenings of your favorite films.

You have 19 opportunities to see the middling Jurassic World (2015) and unfortunately only one opportunity to see Jurassic Park (1993)its three-time Oscar-winning predecessor. Parents everywhere, be advised: Frozen is on the docket and it’s playing only once.

The 16th annual series kicks off this week and runs through September 5. We organize them by genre and neighborhood, to make it easy for you to find the perfect fit. All movies begin at dusk, weather permitting. So, grab a picnic blanket and some snacks and head outside.
