Following a rigorous accreditation process, Advocate Trinity Hospital has been added to the national list of Screening Centers of Excellence by the GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer . This honor recognizes the hospital's ongoing commitment to responsible lung cancer screening.
Through established guidelines for controlling screening quality, radiation dose and diagnostic procedures within an experienced, multi-disciplinary clinical setting, Screening Centers of Excellence ensure the life-saving benefits of lung cancer screening are available and accessible to local residents to transform lung cancer care.
"We are proud and honored to be working with the GO2 Foundation as a Lung Cancer Screening Center of Excellence. This partnership will save lives by enhancing our ability to educate patients and the public about the importance of lung cancer screening, while also advancing research," said Matthew Fox, manager of respiratory therapy and patient transport.
Designated Screening Centers of Excellence are committed to providing clear information on who is a candidate for lung cancer screening, based on current evidence, medical best practices and comprehensive standards developed by professional bodies, including the American College of Radiology, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program.
Founded by patients and survivors, GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer is dedicated to saving, extending, and improving the lives of people vulnerable, at risk and diagnosed with lung cancer.
