Derrick Rose was not only the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the NBA's 2010-11 basketball season, but he is also the MVP to his community West Englewood and local park district, Murray Park.
Rose partnered with Coca-Cola's POWERADE to donate $20,000 to the Chicago Park District. This resource was used to restore the basketball courts at Murray Park, where Rose began his basketball career as a youth. This project included new hoops, fresh resurfacing and more.

Adidas also contributed to Rose giving back to his community by hosting a basketball clinic for youth from the community. This was a total surprise for the youth selected to participate in this event.
Several elected officials and other dignitaries helped Rose to celebrate this historic event in his community.
Those in attendance included Alderman Latasha Thomas (D-17), State Senator Jacqueline Collins (D-16), State Representative Mary Flowers (D-31) and State Representative La Shawn K. Ford (D-8).
B.J. Armstrong, the former Chicago Bulls NBA superstar, 3 time champion, and personal agent to Rose was also in attendance.
