Freshman Urban Program's Visit to GAGDC

On September 13, 2013, Northwestern University's Freshman Urban Program was thrilled to join the Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation (GAGDC) in its mission to revitalize the communities of Auburn Gresham, Englewood, Greater Grand Crossing and West Chatham. The GAGDC plays a vital role in reversing Chicagoans' misconceptions of these communities and the entire Southside of Chicago.
Although we could only spend one day with the GAGDC this time around, we learned a tremendous amount from Carlos Nelson, Norma Sanders (shout out to her niece and superstar Wildcat Taylor Thornton), Pia Shantee and Linda Johnson. We hope to continue the partnership between the Freshman Urban Program and the GAGDC in the future, as both organizations work to bring down the stigmas that all too often keep Chicago's communities divided.
Much Love,
Kenny, Michael, Anna, Danny, Helen, Eliza, Allison, Morgan, Niko, and Aidan
