Community Violence Prevention Program Youth Employment Program Mentor Job Description

Employment Term: 4/28/14 - 8/22/14

Wage:   $11.25/hour (270 hours over 17 weeks. Hours vary by week.)

Reports To: YEP Coordinator                      _______________________________________________________________________________________________                                          

I.   OVERVIEW OF JOB FUNCTION

Mentors will be recruited and hired to provide mentoring to youth hired through the Youth Employment Program. Mentors will create sustained relationships with youth for the duration of the program. Youth and Mentors will jointly engage in periodic, culturally relevant community outreach activities during implementation

II.   MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Mentors are responsible for supervising, mentoring and monitoring youth assigned to them; providing support to youth during their period of employment; and supervising and monitoring youth during community outreach activities. They are also required to follow all instructions given by the YEP Program Coordinator.
