Celebrate Black History Month 2015
by sharing a community story
Published: February 2, 2015
"Black History Month is here! It is time to celebrate African American culture and the significant African American’s that have fought for the freedoms and rights that are in place today. Black History Month was started by Carter G. Woodson and has been taking place every February in the United States and Canada since 1976. Black History Month is intended to educate people about African American history focusing on African American culture, but notable individuals and their achievements, as well."
This year, let's use the community-owned portal to tell our good news and achievements right here on the South Side! The portal was designed to foster and promote the VOICE'S of our neighborhoods. Auburn Gresham and the surrounding communities are full of past and current history. If you live, work or shop in the area, take a look at what's going on in your community to celebrate Black History Month. Share YOUR STORY, send news items, or directory listings (for your block club, school, business or organization) and share important dates for your public calendar. Just click on the orange "Share stories, events, and listings" button (at the top of the portal page) to submit information.
