Quality of Life Plan Celebration of How Your Voice Matters Auburn Gresham!

It is not Kwanzaa yet, however, on Saturday, October 29, 2016, a celebratory community brunch will be held, at the Salaam Restaurant & Bakery, 700 West 79th Street, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, and it will definitely feel like a celebration of the seven principles.

For the past 15 months, the Greater Auburn Gresham Development Coporation has facilitated a process with the community of Auburn Gresham, along with several surrounding connected communities to work worked together in the spirit of Kujichagulia (koo-gee-cha-goo-LEE-yah) Self-Determination, which requires that “we define our common interests and make decisions that are in the best interest of our family and community.“

Together we have paved the way in the spirit of Ujima (oo-GEE-mah) Collective Work and Responsibility, which reminds us of our obligation to the past, present and future, and that we have a role to play in the community, society, and world.

What has resulted from our collective work in the community and especially the tireless efforts of members of each of the eight task forces, has proven once again, that as far as the community goes, Your Voice really does Matter!

On Saturday, October 29, 2016, this brunch celebratory event, will recognize the community, yes you are the honorees:  Residents, Businesses, Schools, Churches, Community based organizations, and committed Partners who have taken the time to invest in our community. This event will be inclusive of youth and adults, who made the committment to "let's all pull" together to ensure that your voices truly were heard. Harambee!

The collective works from each of the Task Forces was used to create our newly updated “Auburn Gresham: Your Voice Matters" community Quality of Life Plan. During the celebration, you will be presented the hot of the press copies of the executive summary of the quality of life plan

This is a “Your Voice Matters” quality of life plan will be a key tool that gives our community collective platform that we can use as a roadmap, to embrace the future of the Auburn Gresham community. Like you, we see this as “A Golden Opportunity.”

Come CELEBRATE the work in this process. It’s time to implement your plan because “Your Voice Matters.”
