WHAT:             Urban Prep 100% College Acceptance Celebration and Signing Day

100 percent of seniors at Urban Prep’s Englewood, West and Bronzeville Campuses, all African-American males, have been accepted to four-year colleges and universities. This is the eighth consecutive year in which the young men of Urban Prep have achieved a 100 percent college acceptance rate. To celebrate, the young men of Urban Prep will share why “100% Matters.”

Chicago Public Schools recently announced all seniors must have a post-high school plan, which could include a college acceptance letter, in order to graduate. Since its first graduating class in 2010, 100% of Urban Prep’s seniors have demonstrated a post-high school plan by having been accepted to a four-year college, and it is expected that future classes will continue this signature Urban Prep tradition that has inspired students, schools and families around the world.

As part of the event, Urban Prep’s annual Signing Day will also take place during which time students will announce their college selections. Urban Prep seniors have received over 1,300 admissions to 170 different colleges and universities across the country and received over $14 million in scholarships and grants. This year, a new record for the most college admissions was set by a member of the Class of 2017 who was admitted to an incredible thirty-nine different colleges.

Through the hard work of Urban Prep students, staff and parents, Urban Prep Academies is changing the narrative for young Black men from one of negative stereotypes to the real story of being college-bound young men and in doing so demonstrating why 100% matters.
