Public Invited to Dan Ryan Woods Celebration
Ceremony to celebrate new nature play, other recent site investments

The public is invited to join Forest Preserves of Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Commissioners Stanley Moore and John P. Daley, Forest Preserves General Superintendent Arnold Randall and partners on Wednesday, July 31 at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate the new Dan Ryan Woods Nature Play area and other outdoor recreation amenities.

The Nature Play site includes elements for climbing, making music, free play, and more. Following brief remarks, attendees can join a guided tour exploring all recent site investments. Since 2017, Dan Ryan Woods, a signature Gateway Site for the Forest Preserves of Cook County, has added exercise stairs near the sledding hill; a Visitors Center, which features permit sales and an outdoor classroom; path improvements south of 87th Street; signs showcasing the history of the site; and repairs to the historic limestone aqueduct.
