Chicago - Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the launch of housing recovery efforts in 9 communities including Auburn Gresham, called the Micro-Market Recovery Program.
The goal of the Micro-Market Recovery Program is multi-purposed. First it will work with some of Chicago's non-profit organizations to collaborate and help sustain property values at a local level.
Secondly and most notably, this program has been designed to focus on more comprehensive community strategies regarding housing preservation and reduction in the rampant foreclosure proceeding occuring in the Chicagoland area.
The Mayor spoke highly of those non-profit entities involved in this Micro-Market Recovery Program. They include: The John T. amd Catherine D. MacArthur Foundation, Chicago Department of Housing and Economic Development, Neighborhood Housing Services, LISC/Chicago, Community Investment Corporation, and Preservation Impact.
Alderman Latasha Thomas (D-17) and Chicago Department of Housing and Economic Development (HED) Commissioner, Andrew Mooney also offered remarks and took questions of media and residents about the significance of this program for Auburn Gresham.
