Join our team to help to faciliate the work on Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace In-Person Counselor program (IPC). IPCs will educate people about the new system, help them understand their health plan choices, and facilitate their selection of the plan that is right for them.
HEALTH AND INCOME SUPPORTS COUNSELOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Organization Mission:
The mission of the Employment Resource Center (ERC) is to develop the employability of individuals so they may secure and retain meaningful career paths. The ERC staff supports and encourages individuals to achieve self-sufficiency and an improved overall quality of life.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree preferred; High school diploma minimum
- Complete IPC certification training rom State of Illinois (pursued after hired)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
- Familiarity with community to be served by our organization (Auburn Gresham, Chatham, Greater Grand Crossing)
- Customer service experience
- Detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work independently
- Experience with data entry and the ability to use/master LISC’s Center for Working Families (CWF) case management tracking system
- This is a Full-Time, Temporary position, August 2013 – June 30, 2014.
Health and income supports counselors will:
- Attend state and federally mandated trainings (2 days in-person, as well as online modules) and supplemental trainings coordinated by LISC
- Help residents understand their health coverage options
- Enroll in health coverage and other benefits for which they’re eligible (i.e., SNAP)
- Follow up with applicants to ensure their applications yield actual enrollments
- Refer applicants to the other services offered at the CWF, if the person is interested
- Stay abreast of best practices in enrollment and exchange best practices with LISC’s other subgrantee organizations
- Conduct some activities on evenings and weekends to accommodate the greatest number of residents possible
