Project Tech Teens Making a Difference

Our mission is to create the most innovative and engaging Mobile App Foundry, where students, especially girls, in underserved communities can easily learn computer programming while launching scalable and prifutalbe businesses.

July 21st - July 25, 2014, 9AM to 4PM, at Blue 1647, 1647 S. Blue Island, Chicago, Illinois

We are looking to teach 50 students, especially girls, from underserved communities in Chicago, howe to build mobile apps this summer. Think. Build. Pitch. is a one-week, intensive summer camp that engages young people ages 13-18 how to think critically, and build solid business plans around their technology solutions.

Scott Steward and Glenn Pereira met at a networking event at Roosevelt University. Scott Steward was teaching a two-week boot camp intensive where Glenn's nephew Kyle, was a student. Glenn was visiting from Australia as he was perparing to get his son settled at the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana. Kyle's mother, Eugenie, and Scott worked together in Chicago Pubic Schools teaching students entrepreneurship and accounting.

With Glenn's IT experiene, and Scott's entrepreneurship expertise, the two decided to develop a program that would prepare students for jobs that don't yet exist. For the next five months, Glenn and Scott conducted research before deciding to launch Project Tech Teens.

Project Tech Teens is poised to serve more than 400 students by the end of 2014.
