Revitalizing Neighborhoods Through Servitude and Innovation

Robert Douglas, the Founder and Co-Director of the S.O.N. Foundation, recently completed a tour of duty as an Americorps-VISTA volunteer with Top Box.

Robert Douglas, the Founder and Co-Director of the S.O.N. Foundation, will be a guest on the Nonprofit “U” radio blog talk show on Monday, November 16, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Nonprofit "U" is an online forum where nonprofit stakeholders can discuss the latest developments in the sector and increase their capacity to serve their clients and build sustainable communities. Valerie F. Leonard, an expert in community and organizational development is the host. Douglas will talk about S.O.N.’s  mentoring programs and civic engagement. He will also share innovative strategies to reverse dis-investment in inner-city schools and communities.  There will be opportunities for listeners to call in with questions and participate in live chats. “While earning my degree, I worked in community building and organization development,” Douglas said. “Over the past 10 years, I have led the charge for quality schools in low-income neighborhoods. As a product of the same environment, it is my passion to make sure these students have and utilize the same opportunities I almost threw away.” The world is a better place because Douglas is taking full advantage of his second chance.
