CHICAGO (November 23, 2015) – The holidays are here and ComEd wants to help families and friends share the light. This year ComEd is offering holiday light-gazers the opportunity to bring an additional family member or friend with them to view some of the special, environmentally-friendly holiday light displays with a ComEd buy one, get one free voucher.
“ComEd is proud to support these local celebrations that provide our communities with enjoyable, low-cost holiday event options,” said ComEd President and CEO, Anne Pramaggiore. “Not only are the light displays beautiful and fun, but they are environmentally friendly through the use of energy efficient LED bulbs. We hope our Share the Light campaign will inspire people to share the joy of the season, while also raising awareness of energy efficient lighting options that can be used for holiday decorating.”
ComEd has been lighting up the holidays for more than 10 years. The events have become a past-time for Chicagoland residents looking for affordable holiday fun. See below for a full list of this year’s ComEd-sponsored holiday events.

According to ENERGY STAR, decorative holiday lighting strands use 50% less energy than conventional incandescent light strands and last up to 10 times longer. ComEd is proud to sponsor holiday light celebrations throughout the Chicagoland area, all of which mostly use energy efficient LED lighting.
Here are a few tips ComEd recommends to customers to help them manage their holiday energy use:
- Wait until dark to turn on your holiday lights and turn them off before going to bed.
- Power strips can help you save! Use a power strip with an on/off switch to fully power down decorations that consume electricity such as holiday lights and inflatables.
For more information and ideas to save energy in your home or business, check out ComEd’s award-winning Smart Ideas Energy Efficiency Program®. Since the launch of Smart Ideas in 2008 the program has helped ComEd customers save more than $1.5 billion on their electric bills and eliminate 21.6 billion pounds of carbon emissions from the atmosphere. This is the equivalent to removing two million cars from the road.
