More than 100,000 households in the city lack a computer or tablet, and almost 200,000 don’t have internet access, according to 2018 U.S. Census data, the most recent available. Internet access varies widely from one community to the next.

Chance surprised students at Westcott Elementary, 409 W. 80th St., Monday with an unexpected announcement. He presented a check of $1 million to CPS for arts education. Chance said he also would give $10,000 directly to Westcott Elementary School, in Auburn Gresham.

This is a time of continued healing, by just having some plain old fun. We want to see all families in attendance! The class with the most parents present will win a special prize. The 19th annual "Opera in the Neighborhoods" tour will be at Simeon, 8141 S. Vincennes Ave., on Oct. 28 for two performances of "The Brothers Grimm. Third through sixth grades at nearby Auburn Gresham GOLD School, Westcott Elementary, 409 W. 80th St., will walk down the street to attend the performance!
