Get Covered Illinois Limited-Time Special Enrollment Period Available Now for Qualifying Illinois Residents

Consumers who did not enroll in health coverage in 2014 were charged a fee of $95 or 1 percent of their annual income – whichever was greater – when filing their taxes. This penalty will increase year-after-year, totaling $325 or 2 percent of their annual income in 2015. This tax season SEP is designed as a last chance for those who were unaware of or did not understand the implications of the penalty for not enrolling in a health plan during Open Enrollment.

Collins (D-Chicago 16th) and Emil Jones, III (D-Chicago 14th) honored the players of the Jackie Robinson West Little League baseball team yesterday, joining with local business owners and other community leaders to present them with reproductions of a baseball-themed painting by Annie Lee, a noted African-American artist with Chicago ties who passed away late last year.

The event was held at Oglesby Elementary School, February 26, 2015. Everyone had a great time!

Oak Street Health Serves as Warming Centers for the Elderly, Urges Residents to take Safety Precautions during these frigid temperatures. On Wednesday, February 18th and Thursday, February 19th, from 9am to 5pm, all seven Oak Street Health community centers in Portage Park, Edgewater, Bronzeville, Ashburn, Avalon Park, Berwyn and Blue Island will be open to all seniors as warming centers offering free coffee, hot chocolate, tea and entertainment for seniors.
